We practice in a small building in Centerville where we value listening to our clients to best help the needs of their pets. We are a very small business with 1 doctor, 1 treadmill specialist and 2 assistants and we enjoy this small approach and focus on individual needs.

​Dr. Julie Servaites

Joined Veterinary Alternatives in July of 2011. She earned her Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Atlantic Veterinary College, Prince Edward Island, Canada in 2008. Dr. Julie received her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture through the Chi Institute in 2011 and completed a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine from CIVT (College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies) in 2014. She is also a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner through The University of Tennessee. Dr. Julie has a strong interest in improving the mobility and strength of all her patients, especially senior and geriatrics.  She also enjoys helping performance animals improve their overall skills and loves watching them achieve their goals! Outside of the office, Dr. Julie enjoys spending time with her four legged family members McPhee her English Setter, and Oliver her Saddlebred horse.

 

Cathy Derrico

B.S., M.S., V.A., is a native to Dayton and has been active in the veterinary industry for over a decade. She graduated from Ohio University with her bachelor’s degree in zoology (1991), and her master’s degree in microbiology (1995). She started working as a veterinary assistant in 2008, and has furthered her career into canine physical rehabilitation. She has been the underwater treadmill manager and operator since 2015. She enjoys using her science background in helping her animal patients with their rehabilitation, their recovery and to improve their overall health. Cathy enjoys walking her black lab Wally, eating ice cream, and spending time with her family.

 

Susan Servaites

Susan is “retired” from 34 years of civil service and defense contractor related jobs including Program Manager for multi-million dollar contracts supporting the Department of Defense and the AIr Force Research Laboratory.  She is currently working part time as front desk support including client interface, appointment scheduling, office maintenance and prime bookkeeper.  She lives in Kettering with her husband, Jan,  and rescue dog, McPhee.  She enjoys spending time with her daughters, Becca and Julie, gardening, baking, summer days at the pool, and any time at the beach. 

 

Chelsea Fournier

Chelsea Fournier joined the Veterinary Alternatives team in 2021. She has a bachelor’s degree in zoology and environmental science from Miami University (2015). Chelsea also has a certification in dog training and has a special interest in animal rescue. She enjoys interacting with pet owners and organizing around the clinic. When not working, Chelsea enjoys a good nap and spending time with her husband and dogs.
